Key Scripture:
2 Kings 4:3 (KJV) — “Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.”
God's enlargement often requires us to make room for what He desires to entrust to us. In the story of the widow, Elisha instructed her to gather empty vessels before the oil multiplied. The miracle came from God, but she had a responsibility to prepare containers. This reminds us that divine provision does not eliminate human responsibility; faith responds to God's word with appropriate obedience. 2 Kings 4:1–7; Isaiah 54:2–3; John 2:7–9.
Making room may mean enlarging our vision, developing our capacity, correcting our priorities, releasing what no longer serves God's purpose, or becoming more intentional about the opportunities He has placed before us. We must be careful, however, not to equate “more” with material abundance alone. God may enlarge our character, influence, ministry, wisdom, fruitfulness or capacity to serve others. Philippians 1:9–11; Colossians 1:9–10; Luke 16:10.
Today, ask God to show you where you have become unnecessarily restricted. Do not despise the little you have; surrender it to God and prepare faithfully for what He may entrust to you. Make room through prayer, obedience, discipline and faithful stewardship. Matthew 25:21; Proverbs 24:27; 1 Corinthians 4:2 As you faithfully prepare, may God enlarge your capacity and use your life for greater fruitfulness and Kingdom impact.
